Each year, Ms. Young asks her grade 8 students to write children’s books to give as Christmas gifts to children in the hospital or at the Rosewood shelter.<\/p>\n

During our weekly computer classes,\u00a0 students are going to adapt those stories into an interactive “Choose Your Own Adventure” type story using powerpoint.\u00a0 They will also use Smart Ideas to help them plan and outline their stories.<\/p>\n

Here is a draft version of the assignment prepared by Mr. McGaughey and Ms. Young<\/p>\n

ASSIGNMENT:\u00a0 Use SMARTideas and Powerpoint to create a choose your own adventure style story.<\/b><\/p>\n

Learning Goal:\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

Smart Ideas:\u00a0 Use an outliner and brainstorming to create a plan, define a problem and organize your thoughts.<\/b><\/p>\n

Powerpoint:\u00a0 Gain confidence in using powerpoint to create slides using multimedia, transitions, hyperlinks.<\/b><\/p>\n

Language Arts:\u00a0 \u00a0Write a Narrative children\u2019s story in a non-linear style.<\/b><\/p>\n

Due Date:\u00a0 December 2013<\/b><\/p>\n

Preparation time:\u00a0 Once weekly with Mr. McGaughey and maybe more if Ms Young books the laptops.<\/b><\/p>\n
